#COVID19 Impact Update on the Global Hotel Industry

14 May 2020 – We get an update on the impact of the coronavirus on countries and markets around the world. We look at areas like China, Asia, Europe, and the US and we will drill down into country and market detail for Europe. Recent performance metrics are displayed, some from the week that just ended on the prior Saturday. Data related to recovery scenarios is provided including current China performance, past economic cycles, and prior events like SARS. Additional data is reviewed on hotel closings, forward bookings, event cancellations, and travel intention. We also look at industry takeaways and lessons to be learned from similar events, such as group versus transient comparisons and luxury resort differences.
