CALL FOR PAPERS
EuroCHRIE, the European Federation of the International Council on Hospitality, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, brings together educators from hospitality and tourism management schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation with industry representatives. Under the CHRIE umbrella, both education and industry collaborate to shape the future of hospitality and tourism. We are delighted to bring EuroCHRIE 2025 to The Hague and are working diligently to make it an exceptionally rewarding event for you.
Call for Papers and Posters
The theme of the conference is ‘High Touch, High Tech Horizons: Leading Progress in Hospitality and Tourism.’ Innovation is the key to unlocking the potential of hospitality and tourism in a rapidly changing and competitive world. This conference aims to explore how insights from both within the industry and from other disciplines can address key challenges such as sustainability, digitization, and the balance between growth and resource regeneration. By fostering innovation in business models, market concepts, ethical practices, processes, and education, we seek to develop new insights that have a strong practical impact and inspire further academic research. Join us as we bring together cutting-edge professional perspectives and academic contributions to shape the future of hospitality and tourism. The conference committee invites you to submit a paper to present as an oral presentation or poster presentation within the broad theme of the conference and the following conference tracks:
- Business Model Innovations
Business Model Innovation (BMI) involves reconfiguring the value proposition, value creation, and value capture elements to address the evolving demands of travellers and the challenges posed by a rapidly changing environment. This topic explores how hospitality and tourism firms can leverage BMI to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, adapt to external drivers such as globalisation and technological advancements, and innovate in response to the dynamic interplay between sustainability,digitalization, and authentic customer experiences. - Market and Concept Innovations
Market and Concept Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism focus on developing new offerings and business concepts that cater to the changing preferences and behaviours of modern travellers. This topic explores how industry professionals can create unique and compelling value propositions, such as tailored experiences for digital nomads and leisure travellers, while addressing ethical considerations, regulatory requirements, and sustainability challenges. By innovating in market approaches and service concepts, hospitality and tourism businesses can stay competitive and meet the diverse needs of their customers in a dynamic environment. - Ethically Driven Innovations
This track is concerned with how industry professionals can develop and implement strategies that address environmental concerns, social responsibility, and regulatory requirements. By prioritising ethical values and sustainable practices, hospitality and tourism businesses can not only contribute to the long-term well-being of the communities and environments they operate in but also enhance their reputation and customer trust. - Technological Human-Centered Innovations
Technological Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism focus on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to transform the industry and enhance the guest experience. This topic explores how advancements such as robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual and augmented reality, and blockchain can be seamlessly integrated into hospitality and tourism operations to enhance authentic human interactions. By fostering deeper connections and prioritizing empathy and personalization, such innovations can elevate guest satisfaction and the human experience in the industry. Ultimately, the balance between cutting-edge technological advancements and the high-touch service excellence that remains fundamental to exceptional hospitality. - Operational Innovations
In this track, we welcome contributions on improving operational efficiencies and enhancing service delivery through innovative methods and technologies. This topic explores how industry professionals can streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve the overall guest experience by adopting new technologies, rethinking workflows, and implementing best practices. By innovating in their processes, hospitality and tourism businesses can increase productivity, respond more effectively to market demands, and maintain a competitive edge in a fast-paced industry. - Educational Innovations
Educational Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism focus on aligning academic curricula with the rapidly evolving demands of the industry, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for future challenges. This topic explores how educational institutions can incorporate a range of innovative approaches to develop interdisciplinary programmes that safeguard both academic rigour and practical applicability. - Special Track 1: The Future of Talent Management
This Special Track focuses on addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities in managing human resources within the industry. This topic explores innovative strategies for attracting, developing, and retaining talent in a sector characterised by rapid technological advancements, shifting consumer expectations, and increasing demands for sustainability. Key areas of focus include addressing labour shortages, strengthening connections between education and the labour market, and promoting decent work conditions. Additionally, this track examines how to motivate hospitality and tourism students by looking at aspects such as adjustments needed in educational programmes, graduate labour market entry, and career perspectives. - Special Track 2: Innovative Research Methods
In the Special Track on Innovative Research Methods in Hospitality and Tourism, we envision discussing new and creative approaches to research that go beyond traditional methodologies, which may favour studies of the impact of existing business practices but perhaps neglect innovations and their potential impact. This track aims to address these limitations by encouraging the use of innovative research paradigms that can better support the dynamic and evolving nature of the industry.
Symposiums, workshops and lecturers lounges
In addition to paper and poster presentations, we will be hosting a limited number of other session formats such as Symposiums, workshops and lecturer’s lounge. Therefore we like to invite proposals for such sessions. Please take into account that the Scientific Committee will review all submitted proposals and make a selection. Detailed information will be published on the conference website.
Paper Guidelines
All papers should meet the following guidelines:
- Maximum 3,000 words excluding the title, abstract and references
- Abstract maximum of 150 words and a maximum of five keywords
- Identify whether the paper is Theoretical / Empirical
- Indication of which of the 8 tracks the paper fits into
- Be written in English (UK or US spelling) and be free from grammatical and spelling errors
- Be prepared in MS Word
- At least one author of accepted conference papers is expected to make a 20-minute presentation at the EuroCHRIE Conference. Please note that the conference will not include any online sessions or presentations.
Please note that papers will be submitted via a weblink, which will be provided during the second call for papers on February 15, 2025.

Publication opportunities
EuroCHRIE conference proceedings and accepted papers will not be published automatically (no ISBN number attached to the conference). High quality papers will be introduced to editors of one of the following possible journals should the author(s) be interested:
- Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR)
- Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education (JHTE)
- Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases (JHTC)
PDF of all abstracts and all posters will be made available via EuroCHRIE conference website
