A Message from EuroCHRIE President 2022 – Henri Kuokkanen
Twelve months ago, it seemed self-evident that 2021 would become a much better year than 2020. Unfortunately, the reality we faced was different. Despite that, certain things took a turn for the better during the year, and the possibility for many EuroCHRIE members to meet live in Aalborg in September was a real ray of hope. Despite the omicron surge, 2022 will hopefully become the year when we find our “new normal” and move on to the next challenges that are more exciting than the challenge that COVID has created for all of us.
On that note, the call for papers for EuroCHRIE Apeldoorn 2022 is out (https://eurochrie.org/2022/). Under the theme “Thrive on Innovation & Entrepreneurship”, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is getting ready to welcome us in late October to discuss the latest research and education discoveries in our field. The conference offers an opportunity to connect with colleagues we may not have seen beyond zoom since the pandemic started. Submission deadline is March 20, and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing you in Apeldoorn!
Before the paper deadline, International CHRIE has another important timeline for us. The election for International CHRIE Vice President ended with none of the three candidates receiving a majority of the votes. Therefore, a run-off election between the two most popular candidates, Chrystel Masdupuy (Institut Paul Bocuse, France) and David Schweiger (Northampton Community College, US) will take place from January 31 to March 1, 2022. Just as the first round, 2021 members are eligible to vote. Please take a moment to do this (a separate email with instructions will follow); it is both a privilege and a duty for all of us to vote!
I wish you all a prosperous 2022 – Henri
Henri Kuokkanen
