7th EuroCHRIE University Challenge Ends in an Amazing Conclusion!

When I was chosen to participate in the annual EuroCHRIE challenge, I was both excited and nervous yet proud to represent BIHC globally. The challenge required us to execute hotel planning and improvement of a virtual hotel’s position by making strategic decisions through simulation. We were a team of four among 16 competing teams globally from 23 countries. EuroCHRIE provided an educational and interesting experience for us to apply the knowledge we learnt in class in a real world environment. It was also amazing to see the four of us work together as a team and exchange ideas given the time and effort we put in to make all this a success. I would like to thank Mr. Simon Kasyema, our F&B instructor for guiding us, Russell Partnership Technology for organising this competition and Boma international hospitality college for having chosen us to represent the college.

It was an amazing experience to see that what we have learned is actually useful in the industry. This helped me test all the skills I learnt at BIHC and I know it will help me when I venture into the hospitality industry. I am also honored to have worked with an amazing team that put in 101% of their effort all the time to get this result. I would like to thank the college for choosing me to represent BIHC at the global challenge.

This was my very first international competition. I can say we as a team did a great job and embraced the challenge. If you are looking for a formula for greatness, the closest you will ever get is through consistency which is definitely driven by a deep love of what we do. Thank you EuroCHRIE for the opportunity to test classroom knowledge learnt at BIHC even if just virtually, to real world scenarios.

My experience was life changing. It was an educational yet fun experience being able to combine my knowledge from school with something new that felt like running an actual Hotel. Every team player was hands-on in every project hence full potential was attained. I would like to thank our instructor, Mr. Simon and BIHC as a whole for giving me the opportunity. I applaud EuroCHRIE for opening such opportunities to hospitality students across the globe.

Today, I am an excited Man as I pen down my experiences during the just concluded EuroCHRIE competition. At first, when I was chosen to lead the students through this competition, it seemed like an impossible mission. I did not know what EuroCHRIE was all about. But I took the courage and assembled a good fit of students. Our students did not disappoint, they took every challenge at a time, and painstakingly tackled the finer details of it. An attentive ear, and attention to small detail. This was an exciting moment that imparted new knowledge and experience to our students. The students got firsthand global perspective on hotel management aspects that will go a long way in positively affecting their career.

I believe EuroCHRIE is a great platform for any global hospitality professional to be, and that is why we look forward to taking part in the future competitions. I am grateful for the opportunity accorded to the students, College and myself.
