The EuroCHRIE University Challenge 2025 Has Begun!
The 11th Annual EuroCHRIE University Challenge has officially started with 18 schools involved.
I am pleased to welcome teams from the following returning schools: Al Rayyan International University College (Qatar), Boma International Hospitality College (Kenya), Thomas More University of Applied Sciences (Belgium) – last year’s winning school, Stenden University (South Africa), Budapest Business School (Hungary) – last year’s runner-up school, Modul University (Austria), Copenhagen Business Academy (Denmark), Özyeğin University Faculty of Applied Sciences (Türkiye), Hotel Management School Maastricht (The Netherlands), Strathmore University (Kenya), École Hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland), FHWien der WKW (Austria), Odessa National University of Technology (Ukraine), Hotel Management School NHL Stenden (The Netherlands), Vocational College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor (Slovenia), Breda University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands), and TU Dublin (Ireland). And, for the first time competing, I am delighted to welcome a team from The University of Derby (United Kingdom).
The teams, comprised of three to five students and one instructor, will compete in a Simulation Challenge in two separate competitive sets (with one hotel operated by each school). Each week they will make strategic decisions to improve the position of their hotels in their competitive set, with a focus on Market Performance, Financials, Guest Satisfaction, and Associate Engagement. At the end of the four-week competition, the top hotels from each competitive set will be compared side-by-side using a variety of performance metrics and the winning team will be named.
As they compete, the students will also be achieving their Certificate in Hospitality Business Acumen via on-line learning modules and a knowledge exam, supplemented by weekly web conferences.
I have no doubt that it will be an amazing competition and, following two comprehensive orientation sessions over the past two weeks, the teams are excited to begin!
Best of luck to all!
