Dr Craig Thompson was the Academic Director for Swiss Education Group in Switzerland, before becoming Academic Dean of Europe’s largest public hotel school, Stenden Hotel Management School in The Netherlands.
Craig, who is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, has also undertaken quality audits for numerous national agencies and was an auditor and Director of the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism (THE-ICE) before taking up the position of CEO 18 months ago. In this webinar, Craig describes the challenges he faced as an academic head in balancing the significant demands for accreditation and ranking and the choices he made. He also compares the approaches taken by agencies and argues for a move from quality assurance to quality enhancement.
Mr John Daly is the Director of Quality Assurance for the Swiss Education Group. In this position John oversees the maintenance of quality across the portfolio, comprising four of the leading hotel schools in Switzerland and, indeed, the World.
This role requires John to lead the accreditation of all schools and programmes, which means grappling with Swiss, US, British and International systems. Furthermore, in common with other institutions John has has had to navigate SEG through the growing demand for rankings and ratings. In this webinar John will present his experience of the systems he has encountered, the challenges and benefits of each and way SEG has addressed the increasing need to provide ‘proof’ of excellence to and increasingly discerning educational market.
