Meet the (incoming) Editors
The “Meet the (Incoming) Editors” workshop is an opportunity for all conference attendees to meet and talk with the (incoming) Editors of different journals.
(Incoming) Editors will introduce themselves, sharing their personal experiences as educator and researcher; also they will answer questions about their journals, discuss the submission and review processes, and provide attendees with advice on how to increase the likelihood of publication.
Dr. Henri Kuokkanen is associate professor and vice dean of postgraduate programs at Institut Paul Bocuse, with expertise in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and revenue management. He holds a PhD in CSR from Leeds Beckett University. Henri has been an active EuroCHRIE board member since 2014, starting as the area consultant for Switzerland. In 2015, he was elected as the director of membership. After his two-year term, he was nominated as the interim director of education in 2017, before being elected in the same position in 2018. Active in sharing his research findings at the annual EuroCHRIE conferences, Henri has won the conference best paper award three times, in 2012, 2016 and 2018. He has also organized several regional EuroCHRIE events to provide further value to members. Having switched from a business and consulting career to academia in 2008, he has found EuroCHRIE an indispensable platform to network and build experience in hospitality research and education. For him, EuroCHRIE also provides the perfect channel to contribute to the future of the field and support the next generation of hospitality students, educators and researchers.
Jean-Pierre van der Rest is Professor of Business Administration at Leiden University, one of Europe’s leading research universities. He previously served as a Professor, Research Director and Associate Dean at Hotelschool The Hague. Jean-Pierre received a PhD in Business from Oxford Brookes University (Oxford School of Hospitality Management), a MA in Managerial Economics from University of Durham (Department of Economics and Finance), and a BBA in Hotel Administration from the Hotel Management School Maastricht. His research focuses on pricing decision-making and revenue optimization in the hotel and restaurant industry. He currently is editor for the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR), along with Prof. Li Miao and Prof. Peter Kim, and has won several research awards. Jean-Pierre has taught in Bachelor, Master, MBA, and Executive Education programs, has chaired accreditations, and has been an external examiner, external advisor, and a visiting professor at various international business schools. Recipient of various competitive research grants, he actively promotes research and teaching excellence.
Marianna Sigala is Professor of Marketing at the University of Piraeus, Greece. She previously hold the position of the Professor of Tourism and the Director of the Centre for Tourism & Leisure Management at the University of South Australia (2015 – 2021). She has also been an academic staff at the University of Strathclyde and Westminster University (UK), and the University of the Aegean (Greece). Her academic credentials are combined with her professional experience in the tourism industry. Her interests include services and experience management, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in tourism and hospitality, as well as wine tourism. She is a widely published and multi-awarded authority: eleven books, numerous papers in academic journals, and (keynote) presentations in international conferences. She has a long record of leadership and participation in international research projects funded by various entities such as the E.U., the Council of Europe and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia. She is a past President of EuroCHRIE and a past member of the executive board of ICHRIE and IFITT. She currently serves at the executive board of CAUTHE. She is the co-editor of the Journal of Service Theory & Practice, and the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Management. In 2016, she has been awarded the prestigious EuroCHRIE Presidents’ Award for her lifetime contributions and achievements to tourism and hospitality education. Since 2020, Professor Sigala is also appointed as Research Fellow of CAUTHE.
