An Update on the Federation Bylaws Amendment
Dear Members,
In January, we asked for your vote on our proposal to amend the federation’s bylaws. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all who took the time to participate in this important decision. Your patience during the brief technical difficulties we encountered is also greatly appreciated. Thanks to swift action, we were able to resolve the issues and ensure a smooth electronic voting process for all members.
Once the voting period closed, our Federation Administrator, Paul Jackson, together with our Director of Membership, Heidi Anaya, conducted a thorough review to verify the eligibility of all votes cast. This process was guided by our existing regulations on voting rights across our various membership categories.
A total of 49 eligible votes were recorded: 42 in favor of the proposal, 5 against, and 2 abstentions. With 86% of votes supporting the proposed changes, the amendments to our federation’s bylaws have now been implemented. I have informed the ICHRIE Executive Board of the outcome, and they will proceed with updating the ICHRIE bylaws accordingly.
While we generally adhere to a no-comment policy for annual elections and awards, on this occasion, we opted to allow feedback. These comments were compiled in an anonymized summary and shared with the Executive Board. The majority of feedback aligned with the voting results, while critical remarks will be considered as we move forward with the implementation. Importantly, this transition is not just a rebranding exercise—while we remain committed to serving our established European members, we will also strengthen our focus on supporting members in the Middle East and Africa.
What’s next?
During our Spring Board Meeting in April, we will outline an implementation plan for the federation’s renaming. This process will be supported by initiatives involving members across the entire federation. Until our annual conference in The Hague in November 2025, we will continue to operate as EuroCHRIE.
Once again, thank you for your engagement and support in this pivotal development. As an Executive Board, we firmly believe that this step will strengthen our membership base in the long term, creating greater value for hospitality and tourism educators across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
FH-Prof. Dr. Florian Aubke
President, EuroCHRIE
