EuroCHRIE is sad to announce the passing of Dr. Patrick Moreo
The EuroCHRIE FAMILY sends its condolences to Dr. Patrick J. Moreo’s family, colleagues and the global hospitality community. Pat has had a profound impact over his 50+ year career.
He mentored students and faculty in a variety of roles, worked closely with industry, and touched so many lives. Most recently, Dr. Moreo was a Professor at USF’s Muma College of Business School of Hospitality and Tourism Management where he was appointed Dean in 2016, providing leadership to the faculty, students, and industry constituents. During his celebrated career, he served the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in leadership roles with the International Gaming Institute and the Hospitality Research and Development Center; he was appointed Associate Dean and Professor through 2016. In addition to these contributions to hospitality education, Dr. Moreo also served Oklahoma State University, New Mexico State University, and Pennsylvania State University.
Pat was active with ICHRIE, serving on the Deans and Directors Council, and was the 2016 recipient of The Howard B. Meek Award. We extend our gratitude to him for his influence and commitment to hospitality educators and the industry, and for his dynamic, legendary, and influential leadership to ICHRIE and hospitality education.
