Rai Shacklock became a member of ICHRIE in 1990 and was a founding member of EuroCHRIE. She joined the newly formed EuroCHRIE Board as an Area Consultant and has been EuroCHRIE Director of Membership and President. In 2003 she was elected ICHRIE President and was the first native European to hold this honour.

In 2012 she retired, after 35 years, in full time education at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. During her time at Leeds she founded and was Head of UK Centre for Events Management and was appointed a University teacher fellow for her innovative ideas related to curriculum development, teaching, learning and assessment. In 2007 she hosted a successful EuroCHRIE Conference in Leeds.
Rai now has her own educational consultancy business but is still actively involved with International CHRIE. She is EuroCHRIE Federation Administrator and is a member of a range of Committees that include paper reviewer for JHTE, JHTC and as the co-chair of the Lodging track and track chair for Event Management. She is an active member of the ICHRIE Past Presidents Council.
Rai is proud to have represented ICHRIE and EuroCHRIE internationally and to have built so many personal and professional networks and friendships.
