UCN is situated in Northern Jutland in Denmark and has campus locations in the cities of Hjørring, Thisted and Aalborg.

We are a university of applied sciences and provide higher education and perform research, development and innovation activities within the four main areas of business, social education, health and technology.

The story in short

UCN and the other vocational colleges in Denmark were formed as an extension of the Act on Vocational Colleges for Higher Education, which the Folketing passed in 2007. The sector currently comprises seven vocational colleges and two engineering colleges.

UCN has formally existed since July 3, 2007 and has many years of experience in education. UCN is a merger between several educational institutions.

The first year, UCN included the former CVU Nordjylland (Hjørring Seminarium, Aalborg Seminarium, Socialpædagogisk Seminarium and Skipper Clement Seminariet) and Sundheds CVU Nordjylland (Sygepleje- og Radiografskolen i Aalborg, Vendsyssel Sygeplejeskole, Danmarks Jordemoderskole i Aalborg og Fysioapeutskolen- og. At that time, UCN offered eight professional bachelor programs as well as a number of courses, continuing and further education in pedagogy and health.

UCN is the first professional college to merge with a business academy. This happened on 1 January 2009, when the North Jutland Business Academy (NOEA) became part of the North Jutland University College. NOEA was formed six years earlier in a collaboration between Aalborg Business School and Aalborg Technical School (now Tech College Aalborg). UCN's educational offer grew to 23 business academy and professional bachelor programs in business, pedagogy, health and technology, a new course department was added and the institution gained an international focus with several hundred students from abroad.
