✈️ Arriving in The Hague

The Hague is easily accessible via Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), which has direct train connections, and Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM). Both airports offer excellent connections to the city centre.

From Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS):
Train: Direct trains to Den Haag Centraal (The Hague Central Station) run frequently (every 15-20 mins) and take approximately 30-50 minutes. The estimated cost is around €10 - €12.

From Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM):
Public Transport: Take Bus 33 to Meijersplein Metro Station, then connect to Metro E toward Den Haag Centraal. The journey takes about 40 minutes and costs around €4 - €7.
Taxi: A taxi ride to the city centre takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately €55 - €75.

🚌 Public Transport (Tram & Bus)

The Hague has an excellent public transport network operated primarily by HTM (trams and buses) and NS (national rail).

The main stations are Den Haag Centraal (Central Station) and Den Haag Hollands Spoor (HS). Tram and bus lines are the easiest way to get around the city.

Payment: The standard method for public transport across the Netherlands is the OV-chipkaart (Public Transport chip card). Alternatively, you can often use your contactless debit/credit card (OVpay) to check in and out on trams and buses, or purchase day passes from HTM service points or the HTM app. Make sure to always check in and check out with your chosen payment method.

🚕 Taxis & Ride-Sharing

Taxis are readily available at the main stations and can be booked via local services like HTMC Taxi Service (or HTM's partners). They are metered.

Ride-sharing apps like Uber also operate in The Hague and offer a convenient, affordable way to travel, especially for short distances or when carrying luggage.

🚲 Cycling 🚴‍♀️

The Netherlands is world-famous for its cycling culture, and The Hague is no exception. With its flat terrain and extensive network of dedicated cycle paths, cycling is one of the quickest and most popular ways to get around.

Bikes (known as an 'OV-fiets') can be rented cheaply at most major train stations, including Den Haag Centraal and Hollands Spoor, using your OV-chipkaart or a dedicated subscription.

🚗 Car Rental / Driving

International and local car hire firms operate throughout The Hague and at both Schiphol (AMS) and Rotterdam The Hague (RTM) airports.

While driving is possible, parking can be expensive and sometimes difficult in the city centre. Due to the excellent public transport and cycling infrastructure, renting a car is usually only recommended for travel outside The Hague region.

🚶 Walking

The Hague is a very walkable city, especially in the central areas. Many of the major cultural and political sights, as well as the main shopping streets, are easily accessible on foot.

Even the popular beach suburb of Scheveningen is well-connected by walking paths and is a pleasant stroll from the tram stops.

♿ Disabled Access

The Hague is committed to accessibility, with its public transport network being largely accessible. Most of the HTM trams and buses feature low-floor entry and have dedicated spaces for wheelchairs.

Major cultural attractions like the Mauritshuis and many museums are equipped with lifts and accessible facilities. You can also find specialized services for accessible travel and equipment rental in the city.

For detailed information on routes and venue accessibility, it is recommended to check the specific venue or travel provider's website in advance.
