Rai Shacklock’s acceptance speech for the EuroCHRIE President’s Award brought her presence to the conference, even though she couldn’t be with us in Doha.

Her words, shared by her good friend Heidi, EuroCHRIE’s Director of Membership, served as a powerful reminder of the strength of the EuroCHRIE community.

Thank you for this great honour.

I am sorry that I cannot be with you in Doha to accept this award, but my dear friend Heidi will accept it on my behalf.

Can I begin by thanking my family who have tirelessly supported my involvement with EuroCHRIE.

For those of you that know me will appreciate my passion and belief in EuroCHRIE as I have been part of the Federation since its inception in the 1990’s. Since then, EuroCHRIE has gone from strength to strength and has served as a model organisation within International CHRIE. I sincerely hope that I have helped to shape and strengthen the EuroCHRIE Federation. However, individuals can only guide, lead and stand up for what they believe but it is you the individual members that make it a family.

EuroCHRIE is a family, and I am proud to be part of your family so thank you for presenting me with the EuroCHRIE Presidents Award. It will always be very special to me.

Can I wish you a lovely rest of the evening and a safe trip home and I hope to see many of you in The Hague next year.
