To Vienna by Train
Vienna has a well-connected and efficient railway network, making it easy to travel to the city by train.
Almost all long-distance journeys to Vienna end at the main station ‘Wien Hauptbahnhof’. All of Vienna’s train stations (‘Wien Hauptbahnhof’, ‘Wien Meidling’ and ‘Wien Westbahnhof’) are centrally located and have good connections to the public transport network.

From the Airport to the City Centre
Vienna International Airport lies a mere 19 kilometers away from the heart of the city, boasting a range of transportation options to facilitate your journey to the city center.
For the swiftest and most convenient commute, look no further than the City Airport Train (CAT). In just 16 minutes, this express service directly links Vienna International Airport with the bustling transportation hub of Wien Mitte, operating at 30-minute intervals daily.
Alternatively, the Express train S7 departs the airport every half hour, making stops at the centrally located Wien Mitte and Praterstern stations. The journey takes 25 minutes to reach Wien Mitte and 30 minutes to arrive at Wien Praterstern.
Vienna Airport Lines buses provide another reliable option, establishing connections between the airport and key Vienna transportation hubs. Departing every half hour, these buses swiftly transport you to Wien Westbahnhof and Wien Hauptbahnhof in approximately 20 minutes.
If you opt for a taxi, be mindful that some taxi companies offer equitable fares to all destinations in Vienna. The EuroCHRIE 2023 conference team recommends Flughafentaxi or AirportDriver. You can pre-book your taxi, specifying your arrival time and destination, ensuring a fixed and equitable fare is determined in advance.
