It is my privilege to be working for you as President of EuroCHRIE and, on behalf of the newly elected Board of Directors, we would like to extend our best wishes for the academic year ahead.
The Board looks forward to providing you, our members, with a range of international opportunities that will benefit your students and courses, enhance your research and educational practice, and support your professional development and career aspirations.
We welcome the chance to work you and provide forums through which you can share your insights, innovativeness and talents with EuroCHRIE’s extensive network of academic, industry partner and student members from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The EuroCHRIE network is your asset, helping you to make a global impact with your work.
An ever-changing landscape for hospitality and tourism education
EuroCHRIE emerges from the pandemic stronger than before. We have seen members renewing and extending their professional networks at our in person and online events. We have seen members innovate and adapt at speed to respond to uncertain times.
Post-pandemic, hospitality and tourism education faces changing realities and new opportunities. We are seeing changing governmental policies, fluxes in student recruitment, value in collaboration to promote excellence, the chance to optimise talent through equality, diversity and inclusion, and students who want to learn in new ways, using new technologies, challenging traditional pedagogies. Likewise, the industry faces an increasingly competitive operating environment. It looks to recruit skilled graduates to drive growth and requires business insights through academic research and collaboration.
This rapidly evolving landscape is the backdrop to our 2023 conference, hosted by FHWien der WKW in Vienna, Austria. The conference theme is Changing Realities, New Opportunities.
The event provides a timely opportunity to explore our shared challenges, consider the opportunities they create and work together to create solutions through cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art educational practice.
Our thanks go to the conference team at FHWien der WKW for organising this fantastic event. It brings together the ‘EuroCHRIE family’ atmosphere of supportive and sociable scholarship – which makes our conferences so special – alongside a distinctive Austrian flavour. Based in the nation’s capital, we look forward to a fantastic schedule of academic papers, posters, symposia and workshops alongside unique networking events.
I look forward to welcoming you to the EuroCHRIE Annual Conference 2023 in Vienna, Austria. It is set to be a truly memorable event.
