Lecturer (Marketing, Retail and Tourism)

Manchester
Grade 8 (£35,845 to £41,526)
Ref: 3450

The Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism is on an ambitious course to strengthen its profile as an inclusive and highly renowned department of marketing professional practice and research for places and the service sectors.

Enhancing our excellence around pillars of strength – the Institute of Place Management (IPM), consumer behaviour, digital marketing, retail, tourism – we deliver educational and research outcomes that respond to the national and global post-Covid revitalisation of the service sectors and local economies, and the big global challenges of sustainability, digital futures and industry 4.0.

Accredited by major professional bodies and embedded proudly in the dynamic and vibrant Manchester city region and with global networks, our vision is to create an integrated and impactful marketing knowledge and graduate pipeline that transforms lives, businesses and communities.

We are looking to appoint a LECTURER across a number of disciplines, including:

  • Digital Marketing
  • Tourism Management
  • Branding
  • Advertising
  • Marketing Communications

The ideal candidate for Lecturer positions will be promising early career researchers with a PhD and an emergent publication record. For exceptional applicants, significant industry experience will be considered instead of a research record.

We are keen to recruit energetic and innovative academics, and we are committed to your professional development on our Research, Education and Citizenship career pathway. You will join a community of researchers led by a strong professoriate including Prof Dominic Medway, Prof Pete Naude, Prof Cathy Parker, Prof Paul Smith, Prof Gary Warnaby and Prof Ben Kerrane, and be supported for membership of the Business Transformations research centre.

All posts require experience of teaching in a higher education setting, and experience of Unit/Module Leadership (unit/module design, unit/module management, assessment, quality assurance) in the discipline is essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach on undergraduate, degree apprenticeship and postgraduate courses, supervise students, provide pastoral support and undertake departmental academic citizenship duties. You will be student-focused in your academic practice, highly collegiate and committed to your own professional development.

To apply, please submit your CV and Covering Letter via our application portal. For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Steven Rhoden (Head Of Department MRT) on S.Rhoden@mmu.ac.uk
